
As part of a shared commitment to social responsibility, fruitful cooperation, and achieving sustainable development goals—particularly in organizing and coordinating volunteer and awareness activities, implementing environmental campaigns, promoting community awareness and resource conservation, and carrying out projects in the fields of desertification control, biodiversity, and environmental preservation—a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the New Bireen Municipality between the Jordanian Society for Combating Desertification and Development of the Badia and the New Bireen Municipality.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Hasan Jabr, President of the Society, and Mr. Ahmad Al-Fraihid, Mayor of the New Bireen Municipality.
The signing ceremony was attended by Eng. Islam Mghayreh, Secretary of the Jordanian Society for Combating Desertification and Development of the Badia; Eng. Louay Rabah, Board Member; Eng. Ayman Al-Hosani and Eng. Fawaz Al-Hamouri, members of the Society; in addition to Eng. Khaled Al-Marafi, Society member and the elected regional councillor for West Asia at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN); Eng. Omar Al-Shoushan, President of the Jordanian Environmental Union; along with a group from the New Bireen Municipality staff.
