At the invitation of the Jordanian Society for Combating Desertification and Developing the Badia, a group of experts spent Monday, December 22, 2025, in a field meeting at the Dr. Abdul Latif Arabiyat Center for Environmental Research and Sustainable Development in Umm Rummanah. During the meeting, an alliance and coalition was launched to garner support and establish environmental and community projects in the Birin district, in cooperation with the municipality and the local community.
The meeting included the following individuals and organizations:
- Mr. Omar Shoushan, President of the Jordanian Federation of Environmental Societies.
- Mr. Tariq Abu Taleb, Executive Director of the Wadi Association for Sustainable Ecosystem Development.
- Eng. Khaled Al-Marafie, West Asia Advisor to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
- Mr. Fadi Al-Shuraideh, President of the Arab Hydrologists Association and former Director of the IUCN office.
