Overview of the JSDCBD

The Society was established in May 1990, based on the recommendations of the Permanent Committee for the Implementation of the Desertification Control Program adopted by the League of Arab States. It is a voluntary, non-governmental organization specialized in conducting studies and research on the phenomenon of desertification and proposing solutions, with a strong focus on cultural and media awareness programs, while actively contributing to the development and advancement of the Badia.

    Organic Solutions

    • Identify desertification problems and their causes
    • Reduce desertification processes and deterioration of vegetation cover
    • Find optimal methods for water resource use and protect natural resources
    • Mobilize efforts to combat desertification and develop the Badia
    • Raise public awareness of harmful practices leading to desertification
    • Preserve environmental balance and protect biodiversity
    • Contribute to improving and developing the local environment of the Jordanian Badia
    • Promote water harvesting and use of treated wastewater
